Aims and Objectives

As a result of a successful proposal (TÁMOP-4.2.2.C-11/1/KONV-2012-0001), the project entitled Future Internet Research, Services and Technology – FIRST is being realized between 1st October 2012 and 31st December 2014. The entire research program is coordinated by the main consortium partner, the Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Debrecen (DE IK).

The current project aims to establish the Future Internet Research Coordination Center – FIRCC, which should be responsible for coordinating and advancing Hungarian research programs and projects focusing on various aspects of the Future Internet.
Considering EU proposals such as FP7 or its successor Horizon 2020, running between 2014 and 2020, a tendency towards a gradually increasing subsidization of internet-based R&D activities can be tracked with the aim of furthering and supporting technological, economic and societal development generated by the Internet. Flagship projects focusing on ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and thus involving research areas of the Future Internet will play a vital role in the next seven-year period because these research projects can also combine with various services of modern society.
The main objective of the Future Internet Research Coordination Center (FIRCC), which is established within the frameworks of the FIRST project, is to coordinate the further research activities focusing on the Future Internet in Hungary and to advance the results in projects.

Key objectives of the Future Internet Research Coordination Centre:

• Be responsible for the comprehensive management of national research activities in the field of Future Internet and for the overall coordination of the respective research institutions. The FIRCC launches the Future Internet National Research Program and invites other institutions and organizations to participate.

• Take part in various EU and other international projects focusing on the Future Internet or any subject area included in the FIRST project.
